Westminster Police said an officer suffered non life-threatening injuries during the arrest.
WESTMINSTER, Colo. — An Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy was stabbed Friday afternoon while serving eviction papers at an apartment complex near 121st Avenue and Zuni Street. The stabbing suspect then barricaded herself in her apartment for hours.
The deputy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Westminster Police.
A police spokesperson said deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office civil service division were serving eviction papers at about 12:45 p.m. at The Brodie Apartments, when a woman inside stabbed the deputy in the arm.
The deputy suffered some puncture wounds to his arm, according to Adams County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Sherman. The deputy was taken to a hospital, where they are receiving treatment for their injuries, Sherman said.
Westminster Police said called out SWAT after the woman barricaded herself. Officers negotiated with the woman for hours before going into the apartment to take her into custody.
Westminster Police said one of their officers was hurt during the arrest, but that the injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. The suspect was also taken to a hospital with injuries she inflicted upon herself, police said in a tweet.
Schools in the area were placed on secure status, according to police.
