The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said they were checking on a possibly suicidal man when the shooting happened.
ADAMS COUNTY, Iowa — A man was taken to the hospital after deputies shot him in Adams County Saturday.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 7600 block of Heather Place at 4:42 p.m. Saturday to check on a man who was possibly suicidal.
They were in contact with the man for several minutes, the sheriff’s office said, and at 5:20 p.m. deputies told dispatchers that shots were fired.
A sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed that deputies shot the man. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and his status is unknown, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting.
