WASHINGTON — Actor and comedian Dana Carvey is mourning the death of his eldest son Dex.

The couple described their son Dex as extremely talented at music, art, film making and comedy.

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee,” they shared.

“Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever,” the statement continued. “To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

After posting the announcement, the “Saturday Night Live” alum shared a photo of himself and Dex working together. Dex had even performed an opening set for Dana’s 2016 Netflix special

According to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the official cause of death has been “deferred”  pending additional investigation.
