Police said the suspect fell out of a moving car as he was trying to get away.
AURORA, Colo. — A suspect has been arrested after a deadly shooting in Aurora Friday night.
The Aurora Police Department said officers responded to a call of shots fired at a home in the 3600 block of South Zeno Way at around 10:45 p.m. Friday. That’s near East Hampden Avenue and South Tower Road.
When they got there, they saw a man driving away.
APD said additional officers followed the car and when the suspect made a turn, he fell out of the moving vehicle. The car then crashed nearby.
Police said the suspect was taken to the hospital and is now in police custody there, facing a first-degree murder charge. He has been identified as 43-year-old Gilbert Vermillion.
Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. They tried to save his life, but he later died at the hospital. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release his name.
