South Metro Fire Rescue said one kayaker was able to make it to shore, but one other is still unaccounted for.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Two kayakers fell into Chatfield Reservoir on Saturday. One kayaker was able to swim to shore, but the other is still unaccounted for, according to South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR).
The kayaker who made it to shore was taken to a hospital in serious condition, SMFR said in a post.
The call about a water rescue came in a little before 8 p.m., South Metro said. Rescuers are searching near the Fox Run Picnic Area on the west side of the reservoir.
Initially, first responders were searching onshore and on the water, but the onshore search was called off after information was confirmed that the missing kayaker did go under the water, South Metro said.
It’s not known when the kayakers fell into the water, SMFR said
