Kerry Endsley wore a disguise when he pulled a gun on a couple who were on a morning run at Fehringer Ranch Park in June of 2022.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A man has been sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for kidnapping a husband and wife at gunpoint at a Jefferson County park in June of 2022.
Kerry Endsley, 75, pleaded guilty in January to attempted first-degree murder, criminal attempt to commit disarming a police officer, and crime of violence, the last charge is a sentence enhancer.
Endsley was wearing a FedEx hat and blue clothing, sunglasses, and had on a fake mustache when the victims passed him on a path at Fehringer Ranch Park on June 17, 2022, according to a release from the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Endsley pulled out a gun and pointed it at the couple, yelling that he was going to kill them, the DA’s office said.

He forced the couple to their knees and put a nylon dog leash around the woman’s neck and then commanded them to walk to the middle of a field, all while telling the couple they would die that day.
The woman realized her kidnapper was Endsley because of the watch he was wearing. She was able to distract him while her husband grabbed Endsley’s gun. The couple then ran in opposite directions while Endsley continued to threaten them.
A runner who witnessed the crime called 911 and described in good detail what was happening. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and were able to locate Endsley quickly.
Endsley charged at a deputy while pulling a stun gun out of his pocket. The deputy fired his gun at Endsley but did not strike him.
Another deputy arrived, Tasered Endsley and he was taken into custody.
Endsley said he was having a heart attack and was taken to a hospital. While he was at the hospital, he asked a deputy to help get his legs onto a hospital bed. He then lunged at the deputy, reached for the deputy’s gun, and then punched the deputy in the forehead.
In a search of Endsley’s SUV, deputies found a mattress, blankets, tarps, restraints, power tools and drills, leashes, collars, rope, knives, ammunition, another stun gun, duct tape, handcuff keys, a hatchet and an extra loaded gun magazine.
The woman victim knew Endsley and had a restraining order against him. At Endsley’s sentencing Wednesday, the victim explained that she suffers from constant fear and anxiety. She and her family moved out of state and started their lives over.
A judge sentenced Endsley to 35 years in the Department of Corrections.
