The fire started Tuesday afternoon in a house near the intersection of Lewis and Sixth streets in Castle Rock.
CASTLE ROCK, Colo — Investigators are working to determine what started a house fire that killed a person Tuesday afternoon in Castle Rock.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue said they got a call about the fire near the intersection of Lewis and Sixth streets just before 1 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters were told there might be a person trapped in the basement, where the fire was burning.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where they died. Their name has not yet been released.
The fire was contained at 1:17 p.m., the fire department said. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
