Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said the bridge repair and road work could impact travel and advises alternate routes.
DENVER — Denver’s transportation department is completing emergency repair work to a small section of the Lincoln Street Bridge that crosses over Cherry Creek just north of 6th Avenue.
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) said it is working to finish the repair work quickly, but had to close the two far-right lanes of Lincoln Street between 6th and 7th avenues. That includes a bus-only lane and one of the two left turn lanes from 6th Avenue onto Lincoln Street.
Downtown travelers near the Colorado Convention Center should take note of a full closure on Champa Street over the weekend.
Now that the major phases of the convention center expansion project are finished, transportation crews have weekend work plans to realign the travel lanes near the center and reroute them to their pre-construction locations.
In spring 2021, the Champa Street travel lanes were moved to allow construction cranes to access the site. While crews realign the travel lanes on Champa Street, the road will be closed between 14th Street and Speer Boulevard starting at midnight Friday through Monday, Feb. 19 at 11:59 p.m.
Crews will display message boards to give travelers who drive the route advance notice.
Detour routes are in place for the Champa Street closure.
