LOVELAND, Colo. — A train derailed in northern Colorado early Wednesday morning.
The derailment happened in Loveland, west of Madison Avenue and north of East 8th Street, according to Loveland Police.
No injuries had been reported from the derailment, police said.
At about 4 a.m., crews with Loveland Fire were clearing the scene and turning it over to the railroad company.
The railroad had called in their own hazmat contractor to take care of a diesel spill, according to Loveland Fire. The spill had been contained and did not reach the nearby waterway, Loveland Fire said.
The train is operated by Great Western Railway of Colorado, according to Loveland Police.
A locomotive will be brought in to help remove the train cars later Wednesday, this could cause a closure of Madison Avenue while crews clear the scene, according to Loveland Fire.
