Young’s arrest comes months before the release of his new album “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” which is set to release on Mar. 22.
WASHINGTON — Country singer Chris Young was arrested Monday night following an incident at a Nashville bar.
The 38-year-old “Famous Friends” musician was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault on an officer, according to multiple media outlets.
Agents from Tennessee’s Alcoholic Beverage Commision approached Young during a compliance check at a bar in downtown Nashville Monday night, The Tennessean reports. The agents checked the singer’s identification during the routine inspection.
As they walked away, the country singer started “asking questions” and “began video recording” agents, according to The Tennessean.
Young and his friends then allegedly followed the agents into the bar next door as they continued their compliance checks. As the agents were leaving the bar, the 38-year-old singer then blocked an agent from leaving the establishment and struck him on the shoulder, Rolling Stone and Fox News reported.
The ABC agent said he pushed the “I’m Comin’ Over” singer to “create some distance” and other patrons at the bar became involved in the confrontation. After Young began “yelling and screaming,” he was detained and placed in handcuffs by officials.
According to the documents obtained by The Tennessean, the singer had slurred speech as well as bloodshot and watery eyes.
