After making its return to Colorado in 2022, Whataburger has opened a restaurant location north of Colorado Springs.

PUEBLO, Colo. — Whataburger is continuing its growth with a new restaurant south of Colorado Springs.

BurgerWorks Colorado broke ground earlier this month on a new location in Pueblo.

Whataburger Operating Partner Joe Lopez, BurgerWorks Colorado Owner William Tamminga, and members of the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce attended the Pueblo groundbreaking ceremony.

The new restaurant at 2850 W. Pueblo Blvd. will be the eighth in Colorado since Whataburger returned to the state in 2022.

Whataburger began as a stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the 1950s and has since grown to more than 1,050 locations in 16 states.

The Texas-based burger chain returned to Colorado for the first time in decades in 2022, opening three locations in Colorado Springs. Whataburger now has six locations in Colorado Springs and a seventh in Monument.

The franchise once had a presence in Colorado, including a location on 88th Avenue in Thornton that became Jim’s Burger Haven.
