A woman was robbed a gunpoint shortly before 7 a.m., prompting the secure status, according to Aurora Police.
AURORA, Colo. — The secure status for the Community College of Aurora CentreTech Campus was lifted Wednesday morning after police searched for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint.
Classes at the school returned to normal about 11 a.m., according to the college.
About 7:30 a.m., the Community College of Aurora was notified by Aurora Police about their search. The campus was placed on a secure status, and the buildings were locked down as a precaution, according to the college.
The school said on the social media platform X that all exterior doors were locked and told those not on campus to not attend classes until the situation was resolved.
Aurora Police said officers were in the area near Chambers Road and Alameda Avenue looking for a man who had robbed a woman at gunpoint around 6:40 a.m. There is no description of the suspect because he was wearing all black clothing and a ski mask.
They noted the community college campus was placed on secure status as a precaution. Anyone who sees suspicious activity should call 911.
