NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Just two years after the Tennessee Vols tore down the goalposts from a historic win over Alabama, 52-49, the Vanderbilt Commodores followed suit.

The Vols beat Alabama in 2022 with a last-second field goal, making it the first time Tennessee had beaten the Crimson Tide since 2006.

Vanderbilt defeated No. 1 Alabama on Saturday, 40-35, marking the first time the Commodores had beaten the nation’s top-ranked team. Fans were over the moon and followed in the Vols’ footsteps, storming the field and ultimately dropping the goalpost to the ground.

Fans could even be seen carrying the goalpost down the road after it made its exit from FirstBank Stadium.
