Brighton Police said the pedestrian was struck twice — the driver in the first crash took off but the second driver stayed at the scene.

BRIGHTON, Colo. — Police in Brighton are asking for the public’s help identifying a driver who left the scene of a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian.

The Brighton Police Department said in a release that on Friday night at around 7:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of North Main Street/County Road 27 and County Road 2 1/2 on reports of a pedestrian being struck by two different vehicles.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man in the roadway with severe injuries. Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that the man was walking when he was hit by a driver who then left the scene. A second driver who did not see the man on the road also hit him but stayed at the scene, according to police.

The driver who left the scene is believed to have been driving a 2000s Honda that likely has damage to the front and the driver’s side mirror, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has more information is asked to call the Brighton Police Department tip line at 303-655-8740.
