One lane of Interstate 70 was back open between Colorado Mills Parkway and 32nd Avenue because of a stalled semi, causing traffic delays.

GOLDEN, Colo. — Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed for a while after a truck caught on fire near Colorado Mills Parkway on Thursday afternoon, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

CDOT said I-70 was closed due to a stalled vehicle in the area. Sky9 showed a stalled semi-truck. A 9NEWS viewer sent a photo of the semi with smoke coming out of it and flames underneath.

The highway closure was between Exit 263, Colorado Mills Parkway, and Exit 264, 32nd Avenue. As of 4:50 p.m., one lane of eastbound traffic was getting by.

Lakewood Police said a truck caught on fire after riding the brakes too hard while driving on I-70 out of the foothills.

The COtrip website says there is an expected 27-minute delay in traffic.
