Wheat Ridge Police say they are investigating a possible homicide in the area of 38th Avenue and Teller Street, near a busy business district.
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — Police in Wheat Ridge said they are investigating a possible homicide near 38th Avenue and Teller Street – located near a busy intersection of small shops, restaurants, a grocery store and a school.
The public information officer for the police department was on the scene of the investigation with little information about what happened because it’s so early on with police collecting more information.
The homicide happened near a row of small businesses. Police said the call first came into dispatch as a medical call, but was then upgraded to a shots fired call as they responded to the scene.
“Our School Resource Officer was at one of the three schools in the area of where this happened, and advising schools on the latest,” tweeted Wheat Ridge Police. “We did not feel it was necessary to put any on lockout or secure status based on the information we have. There is no danger to the public.”
This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
