TOTTENHAM have broken an unwanted Premier League record after their defeat to Aston Villa.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have dropped out of the Champions League spots following a 2-1 defeat at home in Sunday.

Spurs dominated a crazy first half with a makeshift XI but only managed to stick the ball in the net once.

Their lack of clinical finishing came back to haunt them when Villa equalised from nowhere.

And Unai Emery’s men eventually made sure they jumped above Spurs into the top four when Ollie Watkins’ second-half effort sealed a 2-1 win.

Tottenham’s incredible start to the season now seems a long time ago.

Big Ange led his men to the top of the table with a stunning unbeaten start, avoiding defeat in his first TEN matches.

However, Spurs are now the first team in Premie League history to begin a season with an unbeaten run that long… before losing their next THREE matches.

Before the Villa defeat, Tottenham suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Wolves.

And before that, the decline kicked in with a 4-1 home battering at the hands of rivals Chelsea.

Spurs ended the game with nine men after Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off.

Key new signings James Maddison and Mickey van de Ven also picked up big injuries.

And Spurs are also the first team in nine years to lose three straight league games after taking the lead in each one.

Things don’t get any easier for Postecoglou, who travels to Man City next weekend before taking on West Ham and Newcastle.
