The teen is charged with 13 counts related to the shooting Aug. 13 near 16th and Wynkoop streets in Denver.

DENVER — A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in connection with a shooting this month on the 16th Street Mall that injured three people, a spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney’s Office said on Friday.

In all, Cyrus Haggard is charged with 13 counts. Other charges include assault, menacing and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

The shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the area of 16th and Wynkoop streets in downtown Denver. The victims, all men, were taken to the hospital. Police said one victim was in critical condition, and the other two suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said a group of people, including the suspect, “approached one of the victims for an unknown reason.”

“After a brief struggle, the suspect fired shots, striking the first victim as well as two additional unrelated individuals who were behind him,” police said.

Haggard is due in court on Aug. 29 for an advisement.
