Deputies with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office tried to make a traffic stop that led to a pursuit Tuesday morning.

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office shot a woman who led deputies on a chase early Tuesday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m., a deputy found a vehicle near Highway 402 and the East Frontage Road whose registered owner, a woman, had a warrant and a revoked license, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies tried to pull the woman over but she refused and a pursuit started, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies used spike strips near Highway 402 and Lincoln Avenue but the woman continued to elude law enforcement, driving at speeds of over 100 miles per hour, the sheriff’s office said.

The woman stopped at Wheatridge Court and County Road 18, according to the sheriff’s office. That is about 10 miles west from where the pursuit began.

The woman got out of her vehicle with a gun and that is when two deputies fired, hitting her, the sheriff’s office said. The woman was taken to an area hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

No bystanders or law enforcement personnel were injured during the pursuit and shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

The Critical Incident Response Team was notified and responded to investigate the shooting.
