Man killed in shooting in parking lot of closed rec center

The shooting happened Sunday night in the area of Green Valley Ranch Boulevard and Tower Road.

DENVER — A man was shot and killed Sunday night in the parking lot of a northeast Denver recreation center that was closed for the day, the Denver Police Department said. 

Police said the shooting happened just after 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the Green Valley Ranch Recreation Center on Argonne Way, near the intersection of Green Valley Ranch Boulevard and Tower Road. 

Police said there is no indication that the shooting was connected to the rec center in any way. The rec center is closed on Sundays, according to its website. 

The victim’s name has not yet been released. 

Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. Police said no suspects have been arrested.
