The Alexander Mountain Fire is burning west of Loveland, just north of Big Thompson Road.

LOVELAND, Colo. — The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office ordered mandatory evacuations Monday for a wildfire near Storm Mountain, west of Loveland.

The sheriff’s office posted on social media that people from Drake to Dam Store along Highway 34, including Storm Mountain and Palisade Mountain, must evacuate immediately.

The sheriff’s office said that voluntary evacuations have been ordered for people in the area of Waltonia Road, Eden Valley to Sunrise Ranch, and Sylvan Dale to Ellis Ranch. They are being asked to please gather essential items and prepare to evacuate.

Highway 34 is currently closed between County Road 29 and County Road 43, the sheriff’s office said. They are asking people to avoid the area.

The fire is being called the Alexander Mountain Fire. There is no confirmation on the fire’s size or containment.

The sheriff’s office said the fire is burning just west of Sylvandale Ranch. Crews from Loveland Fire Rescue Authority are responding to the fire, according to PulsePoint, a 911-connected mobile app.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said to stay tuned to their X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook pages for more information.

This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
