Man killed in ‘intentional’ hit-and-run crash in Thornton

Thornton Police are looking for a red and tan Ford Expedition in connection with the crash early Tuesday morning.

THORNTON, Colo. — A man died early Tuesday after a driver intentionally struck him and then drove away, the Thornton Police Department said.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 84th Avenue Bridge over Interstate 25 and was initially described as an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, Thornton Police said. However, investigators later learned that the crash was intentional and said the victim was struck by a person driving a red and tan Ford Expedition who left the area.

The vehicle has a Colorado license plate with the number CQJ-N56. Police did not have any description of the driver who was in the vehicle, pictured below.


The vehicle was last around the time of the crash near 84th Avenue and Huron Street. It has damage to the driver’s side tail light and bumper.

According to the Thornton Police, the victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name will be released at a later time by the Adams County coroner.

Police are still working to locate the vehicle and determine who was driving it at the time of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 720-977-5069.
