Shane Warn was shot and killed Friday evening near Blake Street and Park Avenue West in downtown Denver.

DENVER — An Englewood man has been charged with murder in connection with a suspected road rage shooting that occurred Friday evening in downtown Denver, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said on Tuesday.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Nick Moodley shot Shane Warn, 45, just before 5 p.m. at Park Avenue West and Blake Street near Coors Field.

Moodley called 911 after shooting Warn, saying Warn had flashed a gun at him and had tried to get into his car, the arrest affidavit says.

Denver Police and medics arrived and found Warn suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. He was rushed to Denver Health in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, according to the affidavit.

Officers checked the white Tesla that Moodley was driving and found the gun used in the shooting in the front passenger’s seat, court documents say.

Two witnesses told police they were driving west on Park Avenue, coming up to Blake Street, when they saw a gray Mazda crossover SUV behind a white Tesla, stopped in the traffic lane. The witnesses said Warn was standing at the front of the Mazda while Moodley walked back to his Tesla and got into the driver’s seat, leaving the door open, the affidavit says.

The witnesses said Warn then ran up to the Tesla and kicked the inside of the door. A second or two later, the witnesses said they heard gunshots and saw Warn grasp his stomach area and fall to the ground, the affidavit says.

One of the witnesses said Moodley then got out of his car and check the pulse of Warn, the affidavit says.

Moodley invoked his rights to have an attorney present and did not speak with detectives, the affidavit states.

Court documents show that Moodley has a concealed carry permit.

He’s being held in the Denver jail under $750,000 bond, court documents show.
