A 56-year-old Denver man died and a 61-year-old Denver man is still missing after the raft capsized in the Gore Canyon area, Grand County Sheriff’s Office said.
GRAND COUNTY, Colo. — A man was killed and another is missing after a raft capsized on the Colorado River on Saturday, Grand County Sheriff’s Office said.
A 911 caller reported around 3:40 p.m. that a person was not breathing on the river in the area of Gore Canyon south of Kremmling.
It was determined there had been a rafting accident, and that a bystander was performing CPR on one victim, identified as a 56-year-old man from the Denver metro area, who was later pronounced dead by first responders.

The sheriff’s office said it was also determined there was another man, identified as a 61-year-old man from the Denver metro area, who was still missing.
Responders deployed additional rafts, ground crews, unmanned aerial systems and a Union Pacific Railroad Hi-Rail to search the river and surrounding areas.
As of Sunday morning, he has not been found, and search efforts continue.
A third person in the group was able to exit the river safely and is accounted for.
The Grand County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the man who died and determine the cause of death. The name of the missing man is being withheld pending the notification of immediate family.
Multiple agencies initially responded including Grand County Search and Rescue, Grand County Emergency Medical Services, Bureau of Land Management, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle County Paramedics, Rock Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, and Vail Mountain Rescue.
