A 29-year-old man died in the shooting in an apartment in the 2700 block of Ingalls Street, Edgewater Police said.

EDGEWATER, Colo. — Edgewater Police are investigating a shooting that killed an Edgewater man and left another person injured Sunday morning.

Police said officers responded around 5:18 a.m. to reports of a disturbance in the 2700 block of Ingalls Avenue, which is northwest of downtown Denver.

Officers were directed to a second-story apartment unit where they found a 29-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound. Medical personnel attended to the victim, but he was pronounced dead.

A second person with head trauma was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon.

The initial investigation shows the shooting happened after an altercation between people known to each other in the apartment, according to police.

Police said the hospitalized second person, a 29-year-old Denver resident, is considered a person of interest in the homicide.

The victim’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
